I came across your website in my research for companies we will approach for new R&D Projects 2012. The website is very impressive and its a breath of fresh air to see a company that started with skilled craftsmen make such great strides in the technology age. I had to make comment on the Goal. This book actually led me to where I am today. My father owned a Mold Shop in Detroit and we read this book in 1999. We realized that our throuput was all linked to the bottleneck in Sinker EDM. This led us to resarch faster methods in EDM Technology and to several EDM providers. Makino showed us their ability to use hard milling in place of EDM and it transformed our process. The book is more about maximizing the resources you have then adding new, but it opened our eyes and allowed us to cut lead times by 60%. I eventually went on to work for Makino and still represent them today. The book has helped me keep the entire process in perspective. We had all of our employees read the book as well. . I think the key is that we must stand back and look at what we are doing from the outside to get a clear perspective. I am going to use the numbered tasks from Ivy Lee too, this website is fantastic!!! Mayfield Plastics is a very inspiring story. Happy New Year and have a great 2012!!
